Whether you are new to the FrontPage program or a more advanced user, we feel you will find our templates easy to use and modify. We've tried to make all of the instructions easy to follow. All you have to do is delete our content and add your own text and images. Easy!
This template was designed using FrontPage 2003; however, it will also work well with FP2002 and 2000. Note that FP2000 does not have the variety of link bar styles found in newer versions and users will have to reset the text link bar properties for the navigation links.
Your Name Here:
We have used a sample "Your Name Here" image and have also included a blank image without the text. You can open the blank image in your favorite imaging software program to add your own site name and/or logo using your favorite font and then insert it into your pages.
Editing Your Pages:
To edit each page, simply delete our text and replace it with your own. Work carefully so that you do not drag or move any edges of table cells. If you accidentally move a "dotted line", click on the "Undo" icon and begin again. We recommend that you test your changes frequently by going to File > Preview in Browser.
Adding New Pages:
1. Copy an existing Page: This is useful if you have inserted a logo graphic and made other layout changes that you want to apply to all the new pages that you are creating. Open a page that has the layout the way you want it, then go to File/Save As. Save the page under a new name and save the page title as well. Then go to Navigation View and drag your new page into the navigation structure. We have created newpage1.htm for this purpose.
2. Create a new page template: Open newpage.htm and then click File/Save As. From the dropdown choose FrontPage Template (.tem). This will add a new page template to your available templates.
Javascript Calendar:
This easy calendar uses an external javascript file (calendar.js) which sits at the root level of your site. It is included on your page with one small line of code. <SCRIPT SRC="calendar.js"></SCRIPT> If you wish to change the colors for the highlighted month and day, you can change the parameters in the calendar.js page. Instructions are commented and easy to follow.
Style Sheets and Classes:
Each table cell within this template uses a CSS class to format the information contained within it. You can find which class was used by right-clicking in a table cell and selecting Cell Properties. In the window that appears, click on the Style Button. Under "Class" you will see the name of the name of the class we used.
If using FrontPage 2003, use the handy "Quick Tag Selector"
